When it comes to a sweet and elegant way to end a meal, it really doesn’t get better than this. Picture this scenario: you’ve invited friends/family over for an impromptu dinner of takeout or whatever you could rummage from your pantry. All is well except for the fact that you seemingly have nothing for dessert and want to treat everyone to something sweet before they leave. Alas, you recall this recipe and realize that you’re in luck because you’ve got all 3 ingredients (or 4 if you’re adding a splash of rum) handy since they’re just basics. Within 5-10 minutes you’ve got dessert on the table and everyone is certain you’re a culinary rock star. And all was right in the world once again, the end.
Serves 6
Ingredients
500 g | frozen berries |
150 g | white chocolate, chopped |
150 g | whipping cream |
rum, a good splash, if desired | |
Directions
- Get your serving dishes ready – it’s time to pull out any fancy stemmed glassware you have, or your prettiest small bowls. You’ll need 6 of them.
- Add the cream and white chocolate to a small saucepan. Heat gently on low, stirring constantly, until the chocolate melts and the mixture is smooth. Be very careful not to overheat, otherwise the white chocolate will seize into lumps and become unusable.
- Once melted and smooth, remove pan from heat and add the rum if using.
- Evenly divide the berries among the serving dishes and pour some of the hot white chocolate over each. Serve absolutely immediately, before all the berries thaw.
